WB-KDC Hosts Youth Leaders Assembly

In an effort to orient the youth and challenge them to respond to the current situation in the community concerning the issues affecting Reproductive Health, the World Bank-Knowledge for Development Center (WB-KDC) hosted a Youth Leaders Assembly last 8 May 2009 from 1:30-4:30 in the afternoon at the WB-KDC office, Fr. James O'Brien, S.J. Library. The theme was Engaging the Youth in Adolescent Reproductive Health Advocacy.

Twelve (12) student leaders from different schools, student organizations, the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF) and City Youth Officials (CYO) of the city of Naga participated in the event. This endeavor was sponsored by the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), Camarines Sur Chapter.

Participants were briefed of population statistics of Bicol, the Philippines and the world and data on Premarital sex (PMS) of Bicolandia. Also included in the program was an open forum, workshop, and presentation of output.

Resource Speakers for the event were Atty. Mila Raquid-Arroyo, ADNU-USIC's Director and FPOP's National Treasurer, Ms. Zeny Bien, FPOP's Chapter Program Manager. Ms. Lizel Macatangay, FPOP's Board Secretary, facilitated the event.
