ADNU draws roadmap to the future
Some 48 stakeholders of the University – administrators, faculty, staff and students - have formulated new goals and objectives of the University in an Organizational Planning last May 12 and 13 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.
Geared towards the theme: “Drawing the Roadmap to the Future: The Ateneo de Naga University towards Sustaining its Leadership and Achievement Amidst Challenges,” the two-day activity aimed at coming up with a 5-year Corporate Plan which will articulate the University Mission-Vision and draw concrete actions to achieve them.
As a pre-planning activity, participants engaged in “Packing Our Bags: A Pre-Mapping Reflection for ADNU Stakeholders.” Here, participants were disposed in a “planning mood” through a guided reflection.
The planners formally convened on May 12. They were grouped into six, based on the identified key result areas, namely: Governance and Facilities, Academics and Instruction, Research, Studentry and Student Services, Ignatian Formation and Spirituality, and Community Extension.
In the first session, “U-Turn: Appreciating the Milestones of CorPlan 2010,” the highlights of accomplishments of CorPlan 2010 and CorPlan 2010 Revisited implementation were presented. The participants took this opportunity to identify initial issues, problems and concerns that were not addressed, and programs, projects and activities which were not implemented from the Plan.
As a springboard to the setting of goals and objectives, the participants’ awareness on the status quo of the University was raised through the session, “The Glorious Case of a Courageous Traveller: Understanding ADNU’s Organizational profile. Baseline information from key offices like the University Student Recruitment Office, Personnel Office, Office of Admission and Aid, Office of Student Affairs were presented.
The planning proceeded to “Exploring Ateneography: A Scanning of ADNU’s Internal and External Terrains.” The small groups made a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Trends) Analysis on their respective key result areas.
In “The Visionary Road: Rethinking Our Mission-Vision,” the participants ascertained the relevance of the University Mission-Vision was ascertained. After plenary and group discussions, they decided not to rewrite or revise the current Mission-Vision.
Finally, the small groups formulated their goals and objectives in the session, “The Compass of Magis: Formulating Our Goals and Objectives.” Their outputs were presented in the plenary.
The planning activity was culminated by a Eucharistic Celebration with University President Fr. Joel E. Tabora, S.J.
The small groups, on their own, are expected to meet again in another session, “Building Pathways: Concretizing Our Plan through Strategies, Initiatives and Actions.” This time, groups shall be enlarged, as they shall be joined by other implementers to map out action plans.
